The requirement
EDF is going through a pivotal shift from traditional generation operations to a dynamic, project-based environment. As they prepare for this transition, many of EDF’s team members are moving from routine roles into project-focused positions. Therefore, developing them in understanding the best practice fundamentals of project management and achieving a professional qualification, in addition to experience gained in workplace application, is crucial to their continued success.
EDF place great importance on ensuring that these qualifications are formally aligned by respected professional bodies, such as the Association for Project Management (APM), to uphold the highest standards in their work.
The solution
Provek has been selected as an EDF approved supplier and newly appointed training provider for APM qualifications, MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) and P3O. The two organisations collaborated closely to create a comprehensive training roadmap, which includes pathways to Chartership and Fellowship.
A key component of this roadmap is the delivery of bite-sized learning sessions by Provek, open to all EDF staff interested in project management. Each session combines theory aligned to the APM competence framework presented by Provek, with insights from internal subject matter experts on how these principles are applied within EDF.
These sessions have proven to be an excellent introduction for our staff. Provek delivered a 2-day PFQ training course to support the EDF team in achieving the PFQ qualification. Provek trainers, all seasoned project managers, bring valuable knowledge and practical experience that significantly enhance the learning experience.
The benefits
Provek’s ability to offer both face-to-face and self study options has given EDF flexibilty to offer PFQ training to staff based based at the Hunterston B power station.
The professional recognition and skills gained through the PFQ qualification have significantly enhanced staff’s competence and confidence in managing projects and collaborating with stakeholders and external suppliers.
EDF were proud to see a 100% pass rate among participants, which they attributed to the exceptional quality of training and support delivered by Provek.
