CBS choose Provek as their preferred partner in developing graduates and change team through the PM Channel and apprenticeship programme

Introduction

Ian Laing, Head of Practice Management at CBS has chosen Provek to support CBS in upskilling the change team consisting of project managers, analysts, scrum masters and PMO.

Following a skills assessment which identified development gaps across the team, it was important for CBS to work with a specialist training partner with a proven track record in the finance sector, who could offer tailored and targeted training services.

Ian has created the CBS Academy, an initiative to provide employees with:

  • The opportunity to choose training courses
  • Register for mentoring
  • Achieve qualifications
  • Dedicated Agile area for scrum masters
  • Corporate affiliation to APM, the chartered body for the project profession
  • Access online learning to support ongoing professional development

Through gaining a clear understanding of CBS’s strategic and organisational aims, two initiatives were initially chosen

  • A corporate subscription to Provek’s online video learning platform, PM Channel
  • Deliver an Associate Project Manager apprenticeship for graduates and existing employees.

CBS and Provek are looking forward to a long-term partnership and exploring potential further requirements around virtual classroom training in the areas of Risk, Agile, Scrum Master, and APM professional qualifications including PPQ and Chartered ChPP accreditations.

 

PM Channel

CBS launched the PM Channel to 170 employees in November 2020. PM Channel is a Provek proprietary platform that provides online training courses to achieve professional qualifications and over 1000 videos from 500+ contributors to provide insight on the latest thinking within the project profession.

CBS viewed the PM Channel as a great opportunity to provide employees a valuable learning resource that could be accessed 24/7, overcoming the challenges of providing staff with development opportunities during the pandemic.

Provek customised the portal in line with CBS branding to give their landing page a more corporate feel.

Three CBS-specific videos were recorded and uploaded within the portal, with a schedule to upload further in-house-developed content throughout 2021.

Key videos within the PM Channel collection will be chosen and promoted through regular marketing bulletins, with fast-track links provided through the CBS landing page, categorised to create an intuitive experience for the CBS users.

CBS and Provek will assess usage through the monthly reporting and use the insight this provides on browsing behaviour to drive usage and value within the business.

 

Level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship

CBS is launching its first Level 4 Associate Project Manager programme in February 2021.

The 13-month programme will consist of

  • Six newly recruited graduates, with the programme being used to form part of their two-year graduate development programme
  • Six existing employees, looking to gain a professional qualification and develop knowledge and experience to support their career aspirations.

During September, the launch of the programme was promoted during a Change Team forum, attended by approximately 100 team members.

Following this, existing employees were invited to attend a rigorous assessment process to apply for six sought-after positions on the programme.

The programme is scheduled to launch on the 2nd February and, following a technical pre-launch workshop with the dedicated trainer, the programme will be tailored to allow internal subject matter experts to present on key topics at workshops.
