EDF is going through a pivotal shift from traditional generation operations to a dynamic, project-based environment with many of their team members moving into project-focused positions.
Team members were selected to undertake APM Risk Management Level 1 training to learn essential principles, structured processes, and proven techniques that will equip them to identify, assess, and manage risks with confidence in any project environment. Gaining these skills and knowledge, achieving a professional qualification, in addition to experience gained in workplace application, is crucial to their continued success.
EDF place great importance on ensuring qualifications are formally aligned to respected professional bodies such as APM, to uphold the highest standards in their work.
The solution
Provek has been selected as an EDF approved supplier and newly appointed training provider for APM qualifications, MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) and P3O. The two organisations collaborated closely to create a comprehensive training roadmap, which includes pathways to Chartership and Fellowship.
A key component of this roadmap is the delivery of bite-sized learning sessions by Provek, open to all EDF staff interested in project management. Each session combines theory aligned to the APM competence framework presented by Provek, with insights from internal subject matter experts on how these principles are applied within EDF. These sessions have proven to be an excellent introduction for our staff.
Provek delivered a 2-day Risk Management Level 1 training course to support the team in achieving the Riskl Level 1 qualification. Provek trainers, all seasoned project managers, bring valuable knowledge and practical experience that significantly enhanced the learning experience.
The benefits
Provek’s ability to offer both face-to-face and self study options has given EDF the flexibility to offer training to everyone based across the Hunterston B power station.
